Hall of Famer Arky Vaughan had a Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers. This card was issued during his final
season of professional baseball as a member of the San Francisco Seals. In 1949, the Seals, led by Manager Lefty O'Doul, became the first
American professional baseball team to mount a post-war Tour of Japan. Vaughan died tragically in 1952 at the age of 40 when his boat sank in
California. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.
