This newly discovered card features the entire Waseda University baseball team. The 1920s and '30s were considered to be the Golden Age of Big Six University League baseball. Like American football of
the era, the college game dominated the sport. Japan Pro Baseball began in 1936, and prior to World War II, the college game still attracted a far larger audience than the pro version. Many Japan Hall of Famers of the era never played pro
ball, and were inducted for their college exploits. Issued around 1930, this card features Hall of Famer Shotaro Ogawa (most prominent pitcher of the era) and Hawaiian born Mamoru Sugitaya. Blank backed.
